Green line Park, Esplugues de Llobregat, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and El Prat de Llobregat, 2023.
In this project, I expanded upon the concepts developed in my other research project, "Perfect Village initiative, focusing on the human-centric urban model. The proposal aims to establish a continuous green corridor connecting the Parc Natural de la Serra de Collserola with the Llobregat River embankment, which ultimately flows into the Mediterranean Sea. This green zone would traverse the cities of Esplugues de Llobregat, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, and El Prat de Llobregat, creating a unique park that integrates the mountains with the sea.
Currently, this area contains numerous parks and green spaces, many of which are abandoned or underutilized, and these parks are not interconnected. A significant challenge in creating this connection is the presence of extensive highways and major road junctions. To address this, the project proposes collaborating with the city councils of the involved municipalities to develop a plan for the dismantling, relocation, or subterranean burial of certain road sections. Additionally, it suggests the renovation of existing parks, restoration of neglected green areas, and the creation of new green spaces.
The proposed Green Line Park would become the largest urban park in the world, offering residents access to sunlit open spaces and landscaped streets within a high-density urban environment. It would also provide a unique opportunity for pedestrians and cyclists to traverse from the mountains to the sea uninterrupted.
I explored one of the existing parks, Jardins de Ca n'Hospital, and the impressive architectural complex "Espai XC," which inspired the Green Line Park project. I discovered this space by chance and spent many hours there drawing and observing the historic buildings, intricate details, narrow streets, and picturesque landscapes. This exploration led to the creation of a small research project, comprising architectural graphics, photographs, and drawings.
One of the highlights within the park is "Espai XC," the residence and studio of the Catalan artist Xavier Corberó (1935–2017).
