Mykola Kornilov (b. 1985, Sumy, Ukraine) is an architect and visual artist based in Barcelona, Spain. He holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from the Kyiv National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture (NAVAA), 2013 and a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a specialization in Decorative and Applied Arts from the Sumy College of Arts and Culture (SCAC), 2005.
Kornilov’s interests are shaped by his dual education—in fine arts and in architecture—and by a life lived between two contrasting spatial realities: the post-Soviet environment in which he was raised, and the Western European context where he currently lives and works. His practice moves between these poles: between art and architecture, emotion and structure, past and future. It unfolds as a dialogue between opposing forces, a kind of ongoing comparison that resembles ping-pong. His projects are born at the intersection of these oppositions.
Starting in 2022-23, he actively began participating in various art exhibitions and curatorial projects, including: collective exhibition in TEO, Israel; Solo exhibition in Centro Cívico Can Castelló; Art installation "Murder Man" at WAC Lab Valkiria; Art performance at Barcelona City Hall. Curator and artist of the "446+" project in Cercle Artístic Sant Lluc; Co-curator and author of the "Vesna" project at the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC); Curator and artist of collective exhibitions at Alta Diagonal 640; Co-curator of the "Design for Real Time" project in Museu del Disseny de Barcelona.
